On Thursday, the UIL (University Interscholastic League) unveiled the updated district pairings for the upcoming 2024 and 2025 football seasons. District alignments, determined by enrollment figures and geographical considerations, will be in effect for two seasons before undergoing another review.
Among the changes, Highland Park has been relocated from 6A Region I District 7 to 5A Division I. Consequently, 6A Region I District 7 will now consist of eight teams instead of nine. The teams included in the revised district are Dallas Jesuit, Irving, MacArthur, Nimitz, Richardson, Berkner, Lake Highlands, and Pearce. This adjustment marks the sole modification affecting the Irving schools in the latest UIL announcement.
In the previous football season, the performance of Irving schools in 6A Region I District 7 was challenging. MacArthur concluded the season with a 2-8 overall record, while Nimitz secured a 1-9 record. Irving faced a tough year, finishing winless at 0-10.
