At around 7:10 am this morning (Sunday, Feb. 4th), Haltom City Police responded to reports of an armed suspect attempting to break into an apartment located at the Ladera Apartments on 2029 Dayton St near Haltom Rd and E. Belknap St. The suspect successfully gained entry, leading to a struggle between the intruder and the apartment residents.
Upon approaching the scene, responding officers encountered a male suspect inside, brandishing a firearm in their direction. Fearing for their safety and that of others, one officer discharged their service weapon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
The armed intruder was subsequently apprehended by the police and taken into custody without further issues. The involved officer has been placed on administrative leave as part of the standard procedure during an officer-involved shooting investigation.
