Kennedy Kirby and Confiscated Fentanyl

Wylie Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a fatal fentanyl overdose that occurred on January 11th, 2024. Kennedy Kirby, a 30-year-old resident of Garland, has been charged with murder following an investigation into the death of Jacob Bowers.

Authorities allege that Kirby used an unsuspecting Uber delivery driver to transport a package containing fentanyl to Bowers. On February 6th, Wylie Investigators, in collaboration with the Dallas Police Department, executed an arrest and search warrant at Kirby's apartment. During the search, officers seized approximately 22.3 grams of "raw fentanyl," along with a significant number of Fentanyl pills, Xanax Fentanyl pills, drug paraphernalia, electronics, a handgun, and cash. Kirby was arrested for Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Upon receiving the toxicology report for Bowers, investigators upgraded Kirby's charges to murder. Chief Anthony Henderson commended the diligent work of his officers and investigators, emphasizing the seriousness of the fentanyl issue. He stated, "Fentanyl is a growing problem in our country. The Wylie Police Department will thoroughly investigate all cases of overdose and hold those persons responsible for placing fentanyl in our community."

Kirby is currently held in the Collin County Detention Facility awaiting further legal proceedings.
