Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Child Sexual Assault in Collin County

Patrick William Travis

Patrick William Travis, a 26-year-old man from Lake Stevens, Washington, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison by Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis for charges of Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Contact.

Travis, who had ongoing access to the primary victim, a child, began sexually abusing them when they were 13 years old. The abuse continued for a year until the victim disclosed it to a teacher, leading to law enforcement involvement. During the investigation, it was discovered that Travis had also sexually abused another teenage victim.

Prosecutors presented evidence at the sentencing hearing indicating that Travis had admitted to molesting multiple females aged 13 to 16 in the past. Collin County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jason Evans led the investigation, with the initial victim providing details of the abuse during a forensic interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County.

Judge Jennifer Edgeworth presided over the case, imposing the maximum punishment of 20 years in prison for the Sexual Assault charge and 10 years each for two counts of Indecency with a Child by Contact. The sentences are to be served consecutively, totaling 40 years in prison.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Alex Haynes and Claire Mosley prosecuted the case, supported by District Attorney Investigator Greg Bowers, Victim Assistance Coordinator Melissa White, and Legal Secretary Ramnpreet Kaur.
