For the second year in a row, the Irving ISD Purchasing Department has clinched the 2024 Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations, as bestowed by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO). Established in 2009, this accolade recognizes Texas school districts that uphold professional standards in procuring goods and services.
The TASBO Purchasing & Supply Management Research Committee, comprising volunteers, rigorously assesses the award criteria annually to reflect the latest industry best practices. Out of numerous applications, only 77 recipients qualified for the 2024 award, highlighting its prestige amid the 1,200 school districts statewide.
Expressing gratitude for the achievement, Superintendent Magda Hernandez commended the diligent efforts of the Purchasing team, emphasizing their role in streamlining district procurement procedures and optimizing taxpayer funds utilization. The recognition at the state level underscores their talent and dedication.
The district's purchasing team members were celebrated during an awards ceremony on February 21 at the 2024 TASBO annual conference in Houston. The Irving ISD Purchasing team comprises Jerome Pilgrim (Director of Purchasing), Luis Rosado (Assistant Director of Purchasing), Brenda Anderson, Jennifer Bryan, and Adrianna Legarreta (Buyers), Cindy Williamson (Secretary), Gabrielle Johnson (Procurement Manager – Bond Program), and Vanessa Porras (Administrative Assistant – Bond Program).
