Dallas City Council Votes for Interim City Manager Amidst Departure of TC Broadnax

Kimberly Tolbert

The Dallas City Council has taken steps to ensure a smooth transition as the current city manager, T.C. Broadnax, prepares to leave his position in June. In a decisive twelve to two vote, council members have appointed Kimberly Tolbert, currently serving as Deputy City Manager, to assume the role of interim city manager.

One of the factors influencing this decision, according to council members, is the strained relationship between Broadnax and Mayor Eric Johnson.

Expressing her gratitude for the appointment, Tolbert stated, "I am honored to accept the Dallas City Council’s appointment as Interim City Manager. I remain committed to working in partnership with the Council, staff, residents, and businesses, to ensure a seamless and efficient operation of city government during this transition."

Tolbert also highlighted key priorities moving forward, including the upcoming Bond Program election, FY25 Budget development, addressing homelessness, and stabilizing the police and fire pensions.

In response to the decision, T.C. Broadnax expressed his support, stating, "I support the City Council's decision and believe that Kimberly Bizor Tolbert is more than qualified, capable, and committed to lead Dallas through this transition. I am confident she will work in partnership with the City Council and lead our talented and dedicated staff to serve our residents."
