Garland Police Respond to Protest Blocking Traffic, Multiple Arrests

On March 7, 2024, at approximately 4:30 am, Garland Police responded to reports of protesters outside the General Dynamics plant located in Garland. Upon arrival, officers found numerous individuals and vehicles obstructing both the northbound and southbound lanes of North Glenbrook Drive. Additionally, entrances to the business were blocked, preventing employees from entering or leaving.

Efforts were made by Garland officers to speak with the protesters and request cooperation in relocating their demonstration and clearing the roadways and business entrances. However, several individuals refused to comply.

Following negotiation attempts, multiple individuals were arrested, and vehicles were towed. The Garland Police Department emphasized its commitment to facilitating peaceful demonstrations while ensuring public safety and mobility. There were no altercations during the incident, and those taken into custody surrendered peacefully.

A total of 23 individuals were arrested, some charged with Obstructing a Roadway and others with Criminal Trespass. More than 20 vehicles were towed to restore normal traffic flow and business operations.

Most of those arrested were residents of various cities across Texas, with two individuals identified as out-of-state residents.
