The Irving ISD has issued the following statement after the arrest a former employee, Miranda Montoya, who worked at MacArthur High School as a Truancy Officer.
"In Irving ISD, we are committed to the safety and security of our students, and we expect all staff to adhere to the highest ethical practices and conduct at all times.
We received a report that a former Irving ISD Truancy Officer has been arrested. Although an arrest was made, the individual has not been convicted of any crime. However, please note that this individual submitted a resignation and has not worked in Irving ISD since February 15, 2024. Furthermore, the individual has had no access to Irving ISD students or facilities since that time.
District administration has and will continue to cooperate with the ongoing police investigation."
On Thursday morning, Irving Police Officers arrested 32-year-old Miranda Julissa Montoya. Montoya is charged with Child Grooming and Sexual Performance of a Child under 14 years of age.
Texas Penal Code Section 43.25(b) defines Sexual Performance of a Child as "the defendant employes, authorizes, or induces a child younger than 18 years of age to engage in sexual conduct or a sexual performance."
Montoya's bond was set at $150,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
