On March 22, 2024, officers from the Sansom Park Police Department responded to a distressing call regarding a missing person at the Sansom Bluff Apartments located at 2900 La Junta Street. The missing individual was identified as a young female who had vanished from her residence.
Following intensive search efforts, the missing female was subsequently located within the premises of an unfamiliar male's apartment. This development prompted an escalation of the case.
As of March 29, 2024, the initial charge of Abandoning/Endangering a Child has been upgraded to the more severe offense of kidnapping.
The individual in custody in connection with this incident has been identified as Javier Alejandro Cruz-Cavazos.
It has been established that Javier was temporarily residing in the complex as a guest of another resident and is not a permanent resident himself.
As the investigation progresses, authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming.
