On Saturday, March 30, 2024, emergency services rushed to the intersection of North Main Street (U.S. 377) and Westport Parkway in the Town of Westlake following a devastating two-vehicle collision. The incident occurred around 1:27 p.m., prompting a swift response from multiple agencies in Keller and Westlake.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. 377 failed to stop for a red light at Westport Parkway, colliding with another vehicle. The collision, which happened at a high rate of speed, left both vehicles significantly damaged.
Emergency responders found an unconscious 17-year-old male driver at the scene and immediately initiated life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the young driver, identified as Caleb Stewart Essen of Keller, was pronounced deceased.
Meanwhile, the occupants of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene.
