Member of Texas Prison Gang Sentenced to 20 Years for Assault on Police Officer

Salvador Jove

Salvador Jove, a 32-year-old resident of Royse City, Texas and a member of the Tango Blast prison gang, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for assaulting a police officer during an arrest. The verdict was delivered by a jury, finding Jove guilty of the second degree felony offense of Assault on a Peace Officer.

The incident occurred on July 4, 2022, at 12:29 a.m., when Officer Jeffrey Jarvi of the Plano Police Department responded to a disturbance outside the Plano Police Headquarters. Upon arrival, Officer Jarvi encountered Jove, who was shirtless and harassing a woman inside her vehicle. Despite Officer Jarvi's attempts to resolve the situation peacefully, Jove, who showed signs of intoxication, became combative.

As Officer Jarvi attempted to arrest Jove for public intoxication, Jove resisted arrest and proceeded to threaten the officer. In the struggle to place Jove in custody, he violently kicked Officer Jarvi in the chest. However, Officer Jarvi managed to subdue Jove and place him in the police car without sustaining any injuries.

During the trial's punishment phase, the jury learned of Jove's prior convictions, including three charges of Burglary of a Habitation, one of which involved a similar assault on a law enforcement officer. Testimony from Plano Police Detective David Farrington also highlighted Jove's affiliation with the Tango Blast prison gang.

Following deliberation, the jury sentenced Jove to 20 years in prison. District Attorney Greg Willis expressed satisfaction with the verdict, emphasizing Jove's history of violence toward law enforcement and the need to protect the community from repeat offenders.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Charles Brazell and Ashleigh Woodall prosecuted the case, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Ryan Harvey.
