Grapevine Police Need Help in Locating Stolen 9-11 Memorial Stone

Stones before the theft

Grapevine Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating items stolen from the 9-11 Flight Crew Memorial. The theft was reported on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the memorial located at 1000 Texan Trail in Grapevine.

According to authorities, two memorial stones were discovered missing from their enclosures. The stolen items include the stone from the crash site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and a limestone fragment from the impact zone of the Pentagon.

Detectives are currently working to establish a timeline of when the stones were last confirmed to be inside the memorial enclosures. Additionally, they are reviewing surveillance footage from the area for any leads in the investigation.

The stolen memorial stones hold significant historical value, serving as a means to remember and pay tribute to the flight crew members and all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The 9-11 Flight Crew Memorial is under the maintenance of the City of Grapevine.

Anyone with information regarding the stolen memorial stones is urged to contact Sergeant Oscar Ramirez at oramirez@grapevinetexas.gov.
