On Thursday, April 11, 2024 at approximately 12:30 am, Plano Police Detectives arrested Charles Maurice Murray, a 26-year old male from Dallas in connection with an aggravated assault incident that occurred on April 9, 2024 in Plano. Murray assaulted the victim with a hammer before fleeing the scene with the weapon. That attack was part of a series of similar unprovoked assaults in the DFW area in the previous 24 hours.
Based on a tip, Dallas Police Officers responded to a residence in Dallas to confirm the information and locate the suspect. After obtaining an arrest warrant, Plano Police Officers took the suspect into custody without incident and transported him to the Plano City Jail.
The suspect has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and is being held at the Collin County Detention Center.
This incident is currently under investigation by the Crimes Against Persons Unit.
