Man Arrested for Arson in Multiple Frisco Neighborhood Fires

Jonathan Webb

Jonathan Webb, 29, of Austin, TX, has been charged with arson by the Frisco Fire Marshal’s Office in connection to a fire that occurred on Monday afternoon in the Chapel Creek neighborhood. This charge, a first-degree felony, adds to Webb's legal troubles as he was already arrested earlier on Monday following investigations into two fires that took place on the same day.

The first fire occurred at around 4:08 p.m. at a home under construction on Memorial Drive, resulting in a total loss of the property and significant damage to a neighboring house. Eight homes in total were affected by either fire, water damage, or broken windows. One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and later released.

Later in the day, at approximately 10 p.m., Frisco Fire and Police Departments responded to a fire call in the 4600 block of Haverford Dr. Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in a trash container in the alley, with no reported injuries or property damage to homes or vehicles.

Frisco Police officers on scene saw a man walk from between two houses near the fire.  This man was identified as Jonathan Webb and was subsequently arrested for public intoxication, along with having outstanding warrants with the City of Dallas.

During the initial response, FMO investigators spoke with neighbors who provided a description of a person who’d been seen in the area of the fire shortly before it started. Video footage of the man was also obtained and shared with Frisco Police. This video helped officers identify Webb as a person of interest.

Following further investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office, Webb was charged with Deadly Conduct related to the alley fire and is currently in Denton County Jail on a $10,000 bond. The bond for the arson charge related to the Chapel Creek fire has been set at $150,000.

The investigation into the Chapel Creek house fire is ongoing, with the Fire Marshal's Office continuing to gather information.
