On April 22, 2024, at 7:35 pm, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Deputies and Dallas Fire Rescue rushed to the scene of a major accident on the westbound Highway 175 (CF Hawn Freeway) service road at Beltline Road. The incident involved a pedestrian being struck while walking on the roadway's shoulder.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that an SUV traveling westbound on the 175 CF Hawn Freeway service road encountered stopped traffic. In an attempt to avoid collision, the driver swerved onto the shoulder, where they struck the pedestrian.
Tragically, the pedestrian was identified as a 16-year-old male. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the SUV remained present and cooperated with law enforcement during their investigation.
