On Monday, April 22, 2024, at around 5:56 P.M., emergency services responded to a major accident in the 5000 block of U.S. Highway 377 near the intersection of Ike Byrom Road. The Krugerville Police Department and Aubrey Fire/EMS Department rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a sedan driven by a 27-year-old female resident of Aubrey, Texas, and an SUV operated by a 29-year-old resident of Cross Roads, Texas. The vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when they collided.
The impact caused the SUV to roll over, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. However, a child remained inside the SUV secured in a Child Safety Seat. Both the driver and the child were rushed to area hospitals for medical treatment.
Sadly, the driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased from her injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
In response to the accident, U.S. Highway 377 was temporarily closed for a couple of hours. It was reopened around 8:20 P.M. after the initial investigation was completed and the scene was cleared.
The Krugerville Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
