A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on Thursday evening, May 16th, 2024, in North Richland Hills. At approximately 8:47 PM, the North Richland Hills Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the 8600 block of eastbound Airport Freeway, near the Precinct Line Road exit, before fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival, North Richland Hills Police Department and Fire/EMS found a 16-year-old victim in the roadway. The victim, identified as Luis Anthony Luna of Irving, was promptly transported to a Fort Worth hospital by NRH Fire Department medics. Tragically, Luna succumbed to his injuries.
Luna, who resided in the Timberstone Mobile Home Park at Carl Rd and Highway 183, was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
As of Friday morning, NRH Police have recovered the suspect vehicle and identified a person of interest. Authorities are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses information to come forward. They can contact NRH Police at 817-281-1000.
