Former MacArthur Teacher Arrested for Improper Relationship with Student

On Wednesday May 18 at approximately 5:00 p.m. investigators with the Irving Police Department arrested April St. John Alexander (26) of North Richland Hills for Improper Relationship between Educator and Student.

In March 2011 investigators were made aware of a possible sexual relationship between a student and teacher at Macarthur High School. The relationship was said to have occurred between October and December 2009, while Alexander was a teacher at the high school. Investigators determined that she had sexual contact with a 16 year old student approximately 25 times. As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for April Alexander.

Alexander was arrested without incident and booked into the Irving Jail on one count of Improper Relationship between Educator and Student. She posted bond early this morning and was released.  According to an Irving Police press release, no other charges have been filed on Alexander; however, if additional information is brought forward additional charges could be filed.

According to the Irving Independent School District, Alexander was a Biology teacher at MacArthur High School in Irving, but resigned in 2010.  No reason was given for her resignation.
