MacArthur's Suzie Oelschlegel Named National Coach of the Year

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has named MacArthur High School girls head basketball coach, Suzie Oelschlegel, the 2011 NFHS Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in the sport of Girls Basketball.

Oelschlegel coached the Lady Cardinals to the state championship last year.  Other criteria went into the selection process for this award including, career coaching record, community service, involvement  in other school activities, and involvement in her profession at local, state, and national levels.

A commemorative plaque will be given to the state’s high school athletic association to be presented to Coach Oelschlegel  at a later date. 

The Irving ISD will also be recognizing Coach Oelschlegel sometime this spring.
