Rangers Dismiss Offensive Coordinator Amid Slumping Offense

The Texas Rangers have announced the dismissal of offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker following their 8-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field on Sunday.

Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young issued a statement explaining the decision. “After lengthy discussions and deliberations, we feel now is the appropriate time to provide our hitters with a new voice as we pursue goals of winning the division and reaching the postseason,” Young said. “We are extremely grateful to Donnie for all that he has accomplished here with the Rangers, including his role in the club’s 2023 World Series championship. We wish him the best.”

Despite a strong start to the season, the Rangers' offense has struggled significantly, contributing to the team's current record of 17-18. They have fallen to fourth place in the American League West, trailing the first-place Seattle Mariners by four games. This offensive slump contrasts with the team's starting pitching, which has reportedly performed as expected.

The Rangers organization indicated that the structure of the club’s hitting staff is expected to be addressed in the coming days.
