Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Murder of Father at Grand Prairie Hotel
Defendant: Venson Reyes Jr.

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – A Tarrant County jury has sentenced 34-year-old Venson Roman Reyes Jr. to 25 years in prison for the murder of his father, Venson Reyes Sr.

The attack occurred last year at an extended-stay hotel in Grand Prairie. Authorities said Reyes Jr. threw a woman into a closet before striking his 57-year-old father, punching him twice in the head and strangling him. Reyes Sr. succumbed to his injuries days later, on January 20, 2024, at a hospital in Arlington after being left in a vegetative state from blunt force trauma.

The Grand Prairie Police Department led the investigation, and prosecutors Idris Akinpelu and Taylor Ross handled the case in court.
