Dallas Woman Sentenced to 7 Years for Drunken Driving Crash That Killed SMU Student Honor Wallace
Lynlee Pollis

DALLAS, Texas — A 30-year-old woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a 2023 drunken driving crash that killed a Southern Methodist University student and seriously injured another woman near U.S. Highway 75 in Dallas.

Lynlee Pollis, 30, was found guilty of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault following a three-week trial in Dallas County. The jury also made deadly weapon findings in both offenses.

The crash occurred September 24, 2023, on the U.S. Highway 75 access road near Monticello Avenue.

According to prosecutors, Pollis was driving approximately 64 to 67 mph in a 35-mph zone when she ran a red light and struck a vehicle driven by Honor Wallace, a sophomore at SMU.

Wallace was killed in the collision, while her passenger, Cece Solberg, suffered serious injuries.

Judge Orders Prison Sentence Followed by 10 Years of Probation

Following the guilty verdict, Pollis received a seven-year prison sentence for intoxication manslaughter and a four-year sentence for intoxication assault, with the latter probated for 10 years.

The sentences will run consecutively, meaning Pollis must complete her prison sentence before beginning her 10-year probationary period.

Because the jury made deadly weapon findings, Pollis must serve at least half of her seven-year prison sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

The verdict and sentencing took place October 14, 2026.

Woman Ordered to Spend Birthdays and Christmas in Jail During Probation

Dallas County Judge Jennifer Balido also imposed an unusual condition as part of Pollis' probation.

Once Pollis begins probation, she must serve jail time on five designated dates each year:

  • Her own birthday

  • Honor Wallace's birthday

  • Cece Solberg's birthday

  • The anniversary of the September 24 crash

  • Christmas

The conditions will apply during Pollis' probationary period following her release from prison.

Wallace's death deeply affected her family, friends and the SMU community.

Three-Week Trial Ends in Guilty Verdict

The Dallas Police Department investigated the fatal crash.

Prosecutor Lauren Black led the case, assisted by second-chair prosecutor Andrew James, district attorney investigator Ron Cathcart and paralegal Maria Cantrell.

The prosecution team also recognized Valerie Obregon and the District Attorney's Office Victim Witness team for coordinating travel arrangements for numerous witnesses who participated in the proceedings.
