Jury Convicts Mesquite Man of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, Sentenced to 50 Years

DALLAS, Texas - A jury in the 292nd Judicial District Court found Lashelton Lashaun Jett, 44, guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child on November 19, 2025. Following the conviction, Judge Brandon Birmingham sentenced Jett to 50 years in prison.

Case Details

The case against Jett was investigated by the Mesquite Police Department.

The prosecution team from the District Attorney's office included Lead Prosecutor Shanna Gosey and 2nd Chair Amanda Boylan. They were assisted by DA Investigator Barry Maxwell and DA Victim Advocate Audri Graham.

The conviction secures a significant sentence for the defendant in a severe crime involving a minor victim.
