Nimitz Boys Basketball Update

It's been a tough season for the Nimitz boys basketball team. They are last in district play and only have two wins in the season. They started 2 - 0, but since then they have dropped 19 straight games. Friday night's loss came at the hands of a good Cedar Hill who is currently holding first in district 7-5A.

Nimitz coach, Donald Stroy, sees this as a building year and feels they are heading in the right direction. Although, facing many disadvantages, his team has battled all season long. The young men are learning and working hard each week. As Coach Stroy put it, "we are in a brutal district, but we are very competitive."

Coach Stroy points out the leadership skills and play making abilities of Michael McLean, Junior Dexter Richmond and John Eyambe. Michael McLean was named IISD athlete of the month for January.

It's going to take time and effort, "I feel the foundation has been laid for us to really make a difference in this district in the future", said Coach Stroy.
