DALLAS, Texas — A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to state jail and turned over to federal immigration authorities following an attempted child grooming investigation in Dallas County, authorities and court records confirmed.
32-year-old Roger Josue Moromenacho-Rojas entered an agreed plea of guilty before the court to a charge of Attempt to Commit Child Grooming. The conviction stems from an investigation into an offense that occurred on June 9, 2025.
Multi-Agency Investigation and Arrest
Irving Police Department investigators handled the primary casework in close coordination with Child Protective Services (CPS), the Irving Family Advocacy Center, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). Detectives with the Irving Police Department took Moromenacho-Rojas into custody on the evening of August 14, 2025.
As part of his plea agreement, Moromenacho-Rojas submitted a formal judicial confession admitting that on or about June 9, 2025, in Dallas County, Texas, he knowingly attempted with intent to induce a child younger than 18 years of age—identified in court records as D-P.—to engage in specific conduct that would constitute indecency with a child under Chapter 21 of the Texas Penal Code.
Sentence, Protective Order, and ICE Custody
Under the terms of the agreed plea, Moromenacho-Rojas was sentenced to seven months in state jail, with confinement ordered to commence on April 21, 2026, running concurrently with a prior sentence. Court records indicate he received 251 days (approximately 8.25 months) of jail time credit. A formal Stay Away / No Contact order was filed and accepted by the court on December 2, 2025, barring him from contacting the victim.
Following his release from the Dallas County Jail, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took custody of Moromenacho-Rojas due to his unlawful status in the United States to initiate formal deportation proceedings.
