Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Murder Prosecutors Say Was Fueled by Jealousy

FORT WORTH, Texas - A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing a man during a confrontation prosecutors said was fueled by jealousy.

A Tarrant County jury found Jonathan Martinez Aranda guilty of murder in the June 15, 2025, shooting in the Western Hills North area of Fort Worth.

According to prosecutors, the victim had been out with his girlfriend when Aranda, who was jealous of their relationship, confronted him in the 3000 block of Conejos Drive.

Aranda shot the victim, prosecutors said. The victim was later found dead inside a vehicle.

During the investigation, authorities determined that the gun used in the killing had been thrown into Lake Worth.

A Tarrant County jury convicted Aranda of murder and sentenced him to 30 years in prison.

Tarrant County prosecutors John Kleinwachter and Jessica Brewer prosecuted the case. District Attorney investigator Brian Johnson assisted with the prosecution.
