Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 35 Years for Violating Protective Order

FORT WORTH, Texas - A 53-year-old man with three previous felony convictions for assaulting the same woman has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after a Tarrant County jury found him guilty of violating a protective order.

Johnny Jones was convicted of violating a bond or protective order with two or more previous convictions, according to Tarrant County court records. His case was heard in the 371st District Court, and court records confirm the 35-year prison sentence.

The case stemmed from an incident on Dec. 15, 2025, when Jones went to a woman's home in Fort Worth despite a protective order prohibiting him from being there.

Fort Worth police officers responded to the residence and encountered Jones. According to prosecutors, Jones repeatedly ignored officers' commands and ran from them.

Officers pursued Jones on foot and eventually took him into custody by force.

Jones had three previous felony convictions for assaulting the same victim, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. Those prior cases preceded the protective-order violation that resulted in his latest prosecution.

Protective orders can prohibit a person from going near a protected individual's home or workplace, contacting or harassing that person, or committing or threatening violence. Unlike a civil restraining order, a protective order is enforceable by law enforcement, and violating one can result in criminal charges.

Jones has remained in the Tarrant County Jail since Dec. 16, 2025, the day after the incident.

Assistant district attorneys Devon Mann and Emily Ledford prosecuted the case with assistance from Lauren Monroe. DA investigator Clint Leach and victim assistance coordinator Laura Medina also worked on the case. Tarrant County's current trial records list Mann, Ledford, Monroe, Leach and Medina on Jones' case and show the 35-year sentence.

The prosecution was conducted in coordination with the Fort Worth Police Department.
