Fort Worth Drug Dealer Sentenced to 35 Years After Police Find 180 Grams of Meth

FORT WORTH, Texas - A 70-year-old man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after a Tarrant County jury convicted him in a drug case stemming from a police raid at a south Fort Worth home.

Hal Thompson was convicted of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance after Fort Worth police investigators received information that methamphetamine was being sold from a home on Trail Lake Drive.

The investigation led the Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team to obtain a search warrant for the residence.

Officers executed the warrant May 11 and searched Thompson's room, where investigators found approximately 180 grams of methamphetamine along with scales and baggies. Prosecutors presented the items as evidence that Thompson was selling drugs from the location.

A Tarrant County jury found Thompson guilty of manufacture or delivery of between 4 and 162 grams of a controlled substance. He was subsequently sentenced to 35 years in prison.

The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office Narcotics Unit prosecuted the case.

Following Thompson's arrest, authorities in Austin also added a parole violation, according to information provided about the case.
