Teen Sentenced to 28 Years for Murder of Teen at Grand Prairie Circle K

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder in the 2025 shooting death of 18-year-old Jose Luis Flores outside a Grand Prairie convenience store.

Keionn Winters pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced by a judge, according to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office.

The case stemmed from the April 27, 2025, shooting of Flores at a Circle K near West Tarrant Road and Duncan Perry Road.

Grand Prairie police responded to reports of gunfire in the 2400 block of West Tarrant Road at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Winters and Flores were inside Flores' vehicle when Winters shot him, according to information released about the case. After being wounded, Flores got out of the vehicle and ran into the convenience store seeking help.

Flores was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Winters fled after the shooting.

The case led to a search for Winters that lasted about a month. He was eventually arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force.

Assistant Criminal District Attorney David Tamez prosecuted the murder case with assistance from district attorney investigator Briant Thomas.
