On December 23, shortly after midnight, Officer Corey Lee Cooksey, 39, passed away at Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine.
Officer Cooksey had been admitted to the hospital on Friday suffering from low blood pressure. His cause of death is still unknown.
Officer Cooksey started his career with the Irving Police Department in February of 1999. He was currently assigned to the Special Operations Division as a motor officer, served on the Department’s honor guard and was an academy instructor.
Officer Cooksey is survived by his wife and nine-year-old son.
The viewing for Officer Cooksey will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, December 27, at Restland Funeral Home located at 400 South Freeport in Coppell. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, at Calvary Church located at 4401 North State Hwy 161 in Irving.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to a memorial account that has been set up at the Irving City Employees Federal Credit Union (ICEFCU). The account has been set up as the Corey Cooksey Memorial Fund. Checks should be made payable to the ICEFCU and deposited in account #11684, subaccount #1. Donations to the account will be given to the Cooksey family.
