Irving Man Arrested for Assaulting 71-Year-Old Father, Previously Completed Mental Health Program for Similar Incident
Marcus Mitchusson

IRVING, Texas — A 32-year-old Irving man was arrested October 17, 2026, after allegedly pushing his 71-year-old father during an argument at their East Irving home. The suspect had previously been arrested in 2023 for assaulting his father but completed a mental health diversion program that resulted in the earlier charge being dismissed.

Marcus Bryan Mitchusson, 32, was charged with assault to an elderly person following the domestic disturbance in the 600 block of South Wildwood Drive.

According to Irving police, an officer responded to the residence at approximately 5:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance in progress.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the 71-year-old victim, who identified Mitchusson as his son. The father told police the two had been arguing about his son's erratic behavior and drug use.

During the argument, Mitchusson allegedly ran toward his father and attempted to punch him but missed.

The father told police he responded by pushing his son in the torso. According to the victim, Mitchusson also pushed him during the confrontation.

Police classified the incident as a family violence offense because the alleged unwanted physical contact involved Mitchusson's father, with whom he had lived for approximately 30 years.

Mitchusson had left the residence before officers arrived. Following a search of the surrounding area, officers located him nearby and took him into custody.

He was booked into the Irving Jail that evening on a charge of assault to an elderly person.

His bond was set at $1,500.

Mitchusson was transferred to the Dallas County Jail the following day, October 18, where he remains in custody as of the posting of this story.

Previous Arrest Involved Alleged Assault Against Same Victim

The October 17 incident was not the first time Mitchusson had been arrested following an assault involving his father.

According to court records, on July 27, 2023, Mitchusson was arrested after pushing his father forcefully against a cabinet and striking him with his hand.

He was charged with injury to an elderly person with intent to cause bodily injury.

Rather than proceeding to trial, Mitchusson's attorney and the Dallas County District Attorney's Office agreed to his participation in a Mental Health Pre-Trial Intervention program.

Mitchusson successfully completed the program, and the charge stemming from the 2023 incident was dismissed in October 2025.

The new October 2026 arrest occurred approximately one year after that dismissal.
