Colleyville Outdone by Irving, 7-6
Sheleisa Proctor drove in four runs, sparking Irving to a 7-6 victory in seven innings over Colleyville on Tuesday at Irving High. The Lady Tigers recorded their first win over Colleyville in 12 years.
Seven different Tigers got hits for the Irving offense. Last Friday night Melissa Hantleman deleiverd the big hit to beat Grapevine in nine innings. Tonight it was Daisy Martinez that brought home the tying and winning runs to seal the deal with Colleyville. Colleyville used three different pitchers to try and slow down the Tigers. However, the Panther staff allowed 11 walks that gave Irving a chance to take the game.
McKensie Goodman allowed six runs over seven innings and recorded her 17th win on the year.. She struck out three, walked four and surrendered seven hits.
Irving has taken over the second spot in the district 6 5A title race. If the Tigers win out, then the tie breakers kick in with Colleyville and Grapevine to determine playoff matchups. This win was critical to keep Irving out of the fourth place spot. The fourth place team has to open the playoffs with Flower Mound Marcus, currently ranked 5th in the nation or Flower Mound, currently ranked 10th in the state.
