Irving takes out Flower Mound 65-46 in their area-round playoff game

Irving's boys basketball team started out slow, falling behind early in the game against the Flower Mound Jaguars. It was 9-0 in favor of the Jaguars, but the Tigers wouldn't trail for long, as Irving closed the period with a 12-2 spurt to gain the lead.

The key to the game was rebounding, Irving out-rebounded the Jaguars 28-20. The tigers had a strong game by Desmond Henry who scored 16. Jervante Thompson had 13 points, James Thomas 12 and Theo Teamer contributed 10 points.

Irving moves on to play their next playoff game against a familiar foe, the Cedar Hill Longhorns. Cedar Hill defeated Coppell in their playof match by a score of 65-40.

Cedar Hill and Irving are both from district 7-5A where they finished first and third respectively. They played each other twice in district play with the Longhorns winning both games. The first meeting was January 9th with Cedar Hill beating Irving 76-67. In their second match Cedar Hill downed Irving 71-58.

The tigers will need keep their focus and use those two losses as motivation.
