Seven turnovers helps Nimitz defeat North Crowley

Irving Nimitz took advantage of seven turnovers, four in the first half, and converted two fourth downs into touchdowns to defeat North Crowley, 38-20, at Irving Schools Stadium.

Nimitz quarterback Adam Charles was 13-for-16 in the first half for 164 yards and two touchdown passes, but none was more spectacular than the one-handed catch for a 50-yard touchdown by Trei Lewis.

After trying to draw the North Crowley defense offsides, Charles lobbed the ball up for Lewis who made a one-handed grab with his left hand under heavy single coverage, and ran the rest of the way for the score.

After defensive lineman Daniel Flores recovered a fumble on North Crowley's second play, JJ Gaines capped a three-play drive with an 11-yard run on from the right side. Gaines also intercepted two passes in the first half, one setting up a 38-yard field goal by Everardo Reyes.

North Crowley cut the lead to 17-7 when Chris Mike caught a Josh Price pass for a 92 yard touchdown.   Nimitz went into half time with a comfortable 31-7 lead.

In the second half, Crowley's offense seemed to regroup, but the turnovers where too much endure.
