December Athletes of the Month: Ashley Jones and Alen Gusa
Ashley Jones, senior at Nimitz High School, and Alen Gusa, senior at Nimitz High School, have been named IISD Athletes of the Month for December.
A team captain on the Nimitz girls’ basketball team, Jones was been named All-District Defensive Player of the Year, Academic All-District, leads the team in steals per game, and is second in assists per game. In addition to basketball, Jones is a member of the A Honor Roll, Viking Crew and Student Council.
Gusa is a varsity letter winner on the Nimitz boys’ basketball team, averages 23.5 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, and two assists per game. Additionally, he has earned a 4.0 GPA and is fluent in three languages.
