February Athletes of the Month

Alexis Jones, junior at MacArthur High School, and Tavarius Shine, sophomore at MacArthur High School, have been named IISD Athletes of the Month for February.  Jones was identified by The Dallas Morning News as the leading scorer in the metroplex, is a team leader in assists and rebounding, was named most valuable player at the Fort Worth Cowtown Tournament, and was named to the Dallas Coca-Cola Tournament all-tournament team. Jones is also a member of the A/B honor roll, coaches youth basketball, and is a member of MacArthur’s Peer Assistance & Leadership Students group.  Shine has averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds per game through the month of February. He is considered a leader among the student body and is very involved in his church.
