FC Dallas Trades Paul Arriola to Seattle Sounders FC in Multi-Faceted Deal
FC Dallas has traded midfielder Paul Arriola to the Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for up to $300,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM), contingent on performance-based metrics, as well as the Sounders' 2026 first-round MLS SuperDraft pick. As part of the deal, FC Dallas will retain a portion of Arriola’s salary budget charge for the 2025 season.
Arriola, who joined FC Dallas from D.C. United on February 4, 2022, has been a key contributor since his arrival. In 2024, he appeared in 31 matches, tying for the most games played on the team. He ranked second in goals with five and equaled his career-high in assists with seven. Arriola’s consistent form included a remarkable run of scoring in three consecutive matches from July 17 to August 24.
With 96 matches played for FC Dallas across all competitions, Arriola was the club's fourth-longest tenured player in 2024. Before his time with FC Dallas, Arriola spent five seasons with D.C. United, playing 92 matches and earning a loan to Swansea City in 2021, where he debuted in the 2020-21 FA Cup against Manchester City.
A seasoned international, Arriola has made 50 appearances for the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) since 2016, winning the Gold Cup in both 2017 and 2021. His career also includes a four-year stint at Club Tijuana of Liga MX, where he scored 11 goals and added three assists in 114 appearances.
