Eva Lewis Hall Smallwood

Eva Lewis Hall Smallwood, 83, of Corydon, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Harrison Springs Health Campus in Corydon.  She was born February 8, 1939, in Pleasant Ridge (Hopkins County), Texas, to the late Cecil Clyde Lewis and Lassie Estell Speaks Lewis.

Eva lived in Texas most of her life, but became a Hoosier living in Corydon close to her oldest daughter, Brenda and her family.  She enjoyed the small town peacefulness of life in Corydon over the past 12 years.  She was a Member of Oakview Baptist Church in Irving, Texas while raising children then Pioneer Road Baptist Church in Irving Texas.  Eva was a traditional at home mom raising her daughters, provided child care, was a Girl Scout leader, provided church child care, was always available for neighborhood kids and summertime activities, rode side by side with husband Clarence Smallwood, who was a cross country semi driver, and eventually worked and retired from a bakery in Irving, Texas before moving to Corydon.

She was married to Jack Louis Hall, father of her daughters, for 25 years, and Clarence Smallwood for 10 years. They preceded her in death, as well as two grandchildren, Justin Henry and Steven Scrivner

Survivors include her 3 daughters, Brenda Reed (Gerald), Cynthia Hall Henry Spurgeon (David), and Karen Scrivner Jolly (Rod): her 4 grandchildren, Brandon Hall (Misty), Chelsie Foreman (Corey), Courtnie Carver (Jacob), and Spencer Scrivner (Randi); her 6 great grandchildren, Remington Foreman, Sophia, Alivia, and Lincoln Carver, Diego Hall and Sequoia Scrivner; her brother, Autry Lewis (Priscilla); and a large number of close-knit cousins from East Texas.

Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.  Family will honor Eva in a private celebration of life with a Texas Barbecue in celebration of her Texan memories.

Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon is in charge of arrangements.
