River Oaks Man Sentenced to 36 Year for Sexually Abusing 7-year-old Boy

Antoine James Garrett

On February 7, 2025, a Tarrant County jury found 38-year-old Antoine James Garrett guilty of employing, authorizing, or inducing a child younger than 18 to engage in sexual conduct and indecency with a child.  Following the verdict, he was sentenced to 36 years in prison.

In February of 2022, the River Oaks Police Department was notified about an outcry by a 7-year-old boy that Garrett, who was a father-girue to the boy, had touched the boy's private parts.

The boy also said Garrett taught him how to use a sex toy.

The case was prosecuted by Tarrant County Assistant District Attorneys Marina Thomas and Matt Hinojosa.  Brent Ezelle was the DA Investigator and Candace Burnett served as the victim coordinator.
