FORT WORTH, Texas — Police are investigating a crash that left two men dead and led to the discovery of an unknown chemical inside a vehicle Thursday morning.
Officers with the Fort Worth Police Department responded around 11:28 a.m. on April 16, 2026, to a crash near 1940 Delga Street, just north of downtown. Fort Worth Fire also responded to the scene.
Authorities said a vehicle struck a parked car and continued a short distance before coming to a stop.
First responders found an adult male passenger deceased inside the vehicle. The driver, also an adult male, was treated by fire personnel but died at the scene.
During the investigation, firefighters discovered a large quantity of an unknown chemical inside the vehicle. Officials secured the area and called in detectives as a precaution.
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for a possible exposure to the substance.
Officials said there is no threat to the surrounding area or the public.
Detectives with the Traffic Investigations Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victims and determine the cause and manner of death.
