Two Teens Arrested in Deadly Arlington Street Racing Crash

Adam Hamad

ARLINGTON, Texas — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a March fatal street racing crash in Arlington that left a 53-year-old woman dead. The Arlington Police Department provided the following update.

Investigators announced that 18-year-old Adam Hamad and a juvenile male are facing charges of racing on a highway causing death following the fatal collision that killed Tanya Renee Cypert.

Victim: Tanya Cypert

On April 15, 2026, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located both suspects in Arlington and took them into custody without incident. Hamad was booked into the Arlington City Jail, while the juvenile was taken to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.

The charges stem from a March 6, 2026 crash near South Cooper Street and Eden Road. Investigators said Cypert was driving a 2022 Hyundai Tucson and attempting to turn left onto Eden Road when her vehicle was struck by a 2025 Mercedes-Benz C300 traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.

Cypert was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Police identified Hamad as the driver of the Mercedes.

According to investigators, multiple witnesses reported that the Mercedes and at least one other vehicle appeared to be racing prior to the crash. Witnesses described vehicles speeding, weaving through traffic without signaling, and revving their engines.

Surveillance video from a nearby business supported those accounts, police said.

Data recovered from the Mercedes’ airbag control module indicated the vehicle was traveling more than 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash. The posted speed limit in that area is 45 miles per hour.

Investigators said the juvenile suspect was driving a 2012 Lexus IS and is believed to have been racing the Mercedes at speeds exceeding 85 miles per hour, though that vehicle was not directly involved in the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate whether a third vehicle may have also been involved in the street racing activity.

Authorities said the juvenile’s name is not being released due to his age.

The investigation remains ongoing.
