Ilya LeBoulch and Kazuomi Motoike rewrote the school record board, while all 12 athletes competing at the District 14 Championship advanced to the Regional Championship for the first time in school history.
Ilya broke his own school mark in diving on the first day of competition, earning 6th place. Kazuomi lowered the school record in the 100 Back, breaking Michael Smalley’s 2006 mark by a second. His second place finish was Ranchview’s top performance of the meet. The two record-breakers also helped two relays to advance.
Sinjin Venegas earned a bronze medal in the 200 Free, and qualified for Regionals in the 500 Free and two relays. Sarah Rovi qualified in the 200 Free and 500 Free, plus two relays.
Other relay qualifiers include Madison Worrell, Lauren Naylor, Cinthya Ponce, Tyler Rozelle, Matthew Dawes, Damaris Villalobos, Ivy Alshemary and Cameron Leet. Both girls and boys teams finished in a respectable 5th place out of 6 teams. It marked a brilliant return to action for Cameron, who has been recovering from reoccurring injuries and back surgery. Cameron’s drive to come back to help his team earns him the team’s eleventh “Athlete of the Week”.
