FORT WORTH, Texas — The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office announced that 28-year-old Rolando Cruz pled guilty on August 14 to collision involving death and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was taken into custody immediately after the verdict was read.
On May 11, 2024, Cruz was driving along East 1st Street in Fort Worth when he struck 49-year-old Daniel Frost, who was riding a bicycle. Cruz fled the scene after the collision.
Fort Worth Police officers located and arrested Cruz just hours later.
Frost, remembered as an avid bicyclist, was also a husband and father of five children. His family and friends filled the courtroom during the sentencing hearing, many visibly emotional as the sentence was handed down.
