A Thanksgiving evening shooting on East Loop 820 sent one person to the hospital and shut down the southbound lanes for hours as Fort Worth Police investigated.
Emergency crews were called just before 6:40 p.m. to the southbound side of the freeway near Sun Valley Drive. Officers arrived to find a person who had been shot in the back. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
Detectives say two vehicles were chasing each other along the highway when shots were fired. During the chaos, one of the vehicles crashed and overturned.
The Gun Violence Unit responded to process the scene, forcing the closure of all southbound lanes late into the night while investigators worked. Police have not released any information on potential suspects or arrests as the investigation remains ongoing.
