FORT WORTH, Texas - A Tarrant County jury has sentenced a Fort Worth man to life in prison after finding him guilty of assaulting and sexually assaulting his girlfriend.
On Monday, March 16, 2026, 40-year-old Craig Armstrong was convicted of Assaulting a Family Member by Impeding Breath and Sexual Assault following a trial stemming from a 2023 incident investigated by the Arlington Police Department.
According to prosecutors, on August 2, 2023, the victim was repeatedly assaulted and sexually assaulted while attempting to escape from Armstrong. During the ordeal, she jumped from a moving vehicle in an effort to get away but was pulled back inside.
Authorities said Armstrong strangled the victim to the point she lost consciousness.
During the punishment phase of the trial, jurors heard evidence that Armstrong had previously assaulted 14 other women and sexually assaulted a child.
The case was prosecuted by Jaimie Jernigan and Courtney Mowdy, with support from District Attorney investigators Kevin Hilliard and Kristina Gonzalez. Victim services support was provided by coordinator Carrie Farley.
Armstrong was sentenced to life in prison by the same jury that found him guilty.
