MacArthur Cardinal Named One Irving Scholar Athlete of the Month

The Irving ISD Athletic Department, in partnership with the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and ESPN Radio Dallas, recognized MacArthur High School senior Henry Hernandez as the One Irving Scholar Athlete of the Month for February. The award is presented to a student who has shown extraordinary dedication and achievement in sports and in the classroom.

Henry, who is ranked fifth in his class, was a two-year varsity starter for the MacArthur Cardinal football team. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, DECA, student council, National Honor Society, Green Recycling Team and is class president. He is also active in his church youth group. Henry has had perfect attendance for nine years. He is a National AP Scholar, QuestBridge Scholar, was named student of the year in 2013 and is a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. He earned academic all-district football team honors and is graduating with summa cum laude honors. “Henry is a very solid young man with great values and a drive to be the best he can be in all areas of his life,” says Ronny Mullins, MacArthur athletic coordinator and head football coach.
