Dallas Stars Clinch Top Seed in Western Conference, Gear Up for NHL Playoffs

The Dallas Stars are entering the NHL playoffs on a high note, having emerged as one of the hottest teams in the league. Their stellar performance throughout the regular season has earned them the Central Division title and secured the top spot in the Western Conference with an impressive 111 points.

“It’s obviously not what we’re after, but it’s definitely a step,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said of the balance of being happy with the accomplishment, but knowing the real job awaits. “You can’t minimize the work put into doing that. Six months ago, starting in training camp in a really good division with a lot of good teams and a lot of adversity along the way. It’s a great step for our group. I’m proud of the accomplishment. We’re looking for more than that.”

As an example, in last Saturday's game against the Seattle Kraken, the Stars demonstrated their resilience in the face of adversity. Despite a slow start that saw them held to just four shots on goal in the first period, they rallied in the second period, registering 19 shots on goal and seizing control of the game. Standout performances from key players like Miro Heiskanen, Jason Robertson, and goaltender Jake Oettinger propelled the team to victory, showcasing their depth and scoring prowess.

Heiskanen's goal and two assists, along with Robertson's goal and assist, were instrumental in securing the win, while Oettinger's solid goaltending, stopping 26 shots, further solidified their dominance on the ice. The team's depth scoring was evident with forward Craig Smith contributing a crucial goal just 2.5 seconds before the end of the first period, highlighting the strength of their offensive lineup.

As the regular season draws to a close, the Stars now turn their attention to the playoffs, where their first-round opponent remains unknown. Possibilities include facing off against the Vegas Golden Knights or the Los Angeles Kings, both formidable opponents in their own right. Despite uncertainties, NHL Betting Sites heavily favor the Stars after a dominant regular season.

While the team has a chance to secure the Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the team with the best regular-season record, their primary focus is on playoff preparation. Plans to rest key players such as Ty Dellandrea and Tyler Seguin are already in motion, ensuring they are fresh and ready for the challenges ahead. Backup goaltender Scott Wedgewood may also see some playing time, providing valuable rest to Oettinger as the postseason approaches.

In anticipation of the playoffs, the Dallas Stars are hosting a special event to rally their fans and build excitement for the postseason. The 2024 Playoffs Drive Thru Rally and Block Party will offer fans an opportunity to come together, enjoy food, music, and family-friendly activities, and show their support for the team as they embark on their playoff journey.

The event will include special visits from Victor E. Green and the Dallas Stars Ice Girls.  The event is scheduled for Friday, April 19 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm ag Gilley's Back Lot (1135 Botham Jean Blvd, Dallas, TX 75215).
