The Path to College is Illuminated for Parents

Approximately 126 parents recently got a crash course on the numerous offerings in place to help Irving ISD students reach college and beyond. The district’s Parent Involvement department hosted “Path to College,” a special two-part series giving parents insight into their student’s K-12 journey. Sessions led by district administrators featured information on advanced programs such as GT, Pre-AP and dual-credit courses, planning for graduation and college, and district resources. The parent response was overwhelming, with many walking away with a better understanding of all Irving ISD has to offer. “We [were] previously advised to choose a private or charter school for our child,” stated a Townsel kindergarten parent. “After hearing this presentation, we are very impressed to learn about the great opportunities for advanced courses and college credits in [Irving ISD].” Parent Involvement is looking to launch more sessions in the future and empower parents to walk the path to college alongside their students.
