Fort Worth Man Shoots Girlfriend in the Toe

On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at about 8:29 pm, Central Division officers were dispatched to 1701 East Robert Street, the Valley at Cobb Park Apartments, in reference to a report of shots fired in the apartment complex.  An off-duty Fort Worth Police Department officer was working in full uniform while providing additional security to the apartment complex and heard gunfire and observed the suspect, an adult male, who was armed and fleeing the scene.  The officer called for assistance and on-duty officers quickly responded.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim of the shooting, an adult female, who stated that she and the suspect had been in a dating relationship.  The victim stated that the suspect had arrived at her apartment and a verbal argument had occurred which she feared was about to turn violent when the suspect, who was standing outside of the apartment, produced a firearm and discharged it several times, striking the victim once in the toe.  The victim then fled the apartment for her safety.  The suspect then threatened a second female victim in the apartment with the firearm before he was observed fleeing on foot by the responding off-duty officer.

Officers from the Department’s Patrol Division, Air Support Unit, Directed Patrol Unit and Gang Unit quickly responded and set a perimeter to search for the suspect.

At about 8:56 pm, officers were able to locate the suspect hiding in a creek bed near the 2300 block of South Riverside Drive where he was taken into custody without incident.  The suspect had received minor lacerations and abrasions while fleeing on foot and was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim was treated for a non-life-threatening injury while on scene and refused transport to a hospital.  The Gun Violence Unit has been requested to investigate this incident.
