On Monday, May 22, 2023, at approximately 11:31 pm, East Division Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to a suicide attempt call in the 5900 block of Greenspoint Dr.
The initial call details stated that the caller was “bleeding out” and that she was “trying to kill herself.” The first officer on scene made contact with the caller at her door. During their interaction, the woman picked up a knife. As the interaction continued, the officer perceived a deadly threat from her and discharged their firearm, striking the woman.
She was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. No officers or any other persons were injured during this incident.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
Investigators from the Fort Worth Police Department Major Case Unit and Internal Affairs responded to the scene and will be investigating, which is standard procedure for these incidents.
